Your X reading

Your X reading is a picture of who shapes what you see on X. It starts with your own posts: who you reply to, repost, and quote. Then it looks at how those accounts talk to each other. The result shows the people you lean on, including some you have never met.

Only you can see your reading. There is no public page for it.

Where to find it: Click More in the left sidebar, then Your X reading. You can also click See your reading on the X row of the Connect page.

Get your first reading

The page stays empty until you connect X. It says No reading yet and links to your connections.

1. Open Connect. From Settings, click Connect your accounts.
2. On the X row, click Connect and approve the X screen. This proves the handle is yours.
3. If the row then offers Import my posts, click it. The row says what the import reads and what it costs before you start.
4. Wait a few minutes. The reading page says Reading your X… while it works. When it is done, the X row shows See your reading.

How to read it

At the top is one sentence about where your attention sits. Under it is a map. You are the diamond in the middle. Bigger discs shape more of what you read. Use the arrows to step through the map one part at a time. Names shows or hides the account names, and Field adds faint lines under the map that show its shape.

A few words on the page have a fixed meaning:

• Scene. A group of accounts that talk to each other.
• Your own scene. A scene you are part of. You talk with these people and they talk with each other.
• Reaches you second-hand. A scene you are not in. It gets to you through the people you talk to.
• Mostly one person. A group that reaches you through just one account. It shows as a ring, not a disc.
• Scattered voices. Accounts that shape what you see but never form a scene.

Below the map, a row of buttons jumps to each part of the page. Parts show up only when your reading has something to say there:

• Scenes lists your scenes. Open one to give it a name of your own under What you call this scene.
• People shows the people you lean on as faces. Tap a face to see more.
• Why these names explains how an account you never engaged ends up here.
• Here too counts the accounts in your reading that are on UpTrust.
• Follow vs engage compares who you follow with who you actually engage.
• Where scenes agree shows scenes that back the same things without sharing people.
• What changed says when the reading was made and holds the buttons to read again.
• Your card is an image of your reading you can post. Click Save image or Copy sentence. It names nobody but you and people who are on UpTrust.
• About this reading has a What went into it link with the details.

Invite someone from your reading

Tap a face in People. If that person is on UpTrust and shows their X handle on their profile, you can open their profile, and you may get a Message button. Everyone else gets Invite, unless they already joined from one of your invites.

1. Click Invite. UpTrust makes a link just for that person.
2. A short message appears, ready to edit. It reads I got a reading of who I lean on on X, and you're on it. Here's yours:
3. Click Copy. The message and the link go on your clipboard.
4. Send it yourself, wherever you talk to them. UpTrust never sends it for you.

When they open the link, they see your name and the words reads X through you, with a Get your reading button. They never see your reading.

The link lasts 14 days. Next to Copy, the page says when it expires. Click Invite again for the same person and you get the same link. Each person can join from your invite only once. When someone does, your reading says how many people joined from your invites. It never says who.

Read again

Under What changed there are two buttons. Which ones you see depends on your reading.

• New reading reads your recent X activity again and replaces this reading. It uses one of your X reads. Your old reading stays on the page until the new one is ready.
• Refresh rebuilds this reading from the last read. It does not use an X read.

You get 3 X reads every 30 days. The page tells you how many you have left and when you get more. If a read does not finish, it does not count. The page says so, and you keep that read.
