UpTrust has a free app for iPhone and Android. It signs you in to the same account you use on the website, so your posts, groups, and chats are already there when you open it.

Install it
- UpTrust on the App Store for iPhone.
- UpTrust on Google Play for Android.
The two store names differ because another app already owns UpTrust on the App Store. Once it is installed, the icon on your home screen says UpTrust either way.
On a phone browser, UpTrust shows a Get the UpTrust app banner after a couple of visits. Tap Install UpTrust to go to the right store for your phone. If you close the banner, it comes back after two weeks. The old home screen web app is retired. If you added UpTrust to your home screen from the browser, install the store app instead.
Open it and sign in with your email and password. On Android there is a Google button too, and on iPhone an Apple button. Nothing needs moving across. If you do not have an account yet, make one on the website first. See create your account.
What you can do in the app
- Read and write. Your home feed, replies, votes, and drafts.
- Groups. Open a group and post in its channels and threads.
- Chats. Send and read direct messages.
- Bridges. Read the bridges in your network, browse open requests, boost one, write a bridge yourself, and ask for one. You can ask a specific person straight from their profile. When answers come in, spotlight the ones you want people to read.
- Open asks. Read what people are trying to figure out and answer one. Your own asks show on your profile in the app too.
- Bookmarks. Tap the bookmark on any post to keep it. Open Bookmarks from the menu, and read a group’s lists from its Lists tab.
- Bring your intro. Ask your AI for an introduction, paste it in, and publish the questions it drafts. Under the menu, in Yours.
- Polls. Tap ＋ Add a poll when you write a post. Choose Choices or Times, then Pick one, Pick several, or Rank in order. See polls.
- Events. An Upcoming events strip sits above your home feed, with See all for the rest. Hosts can add, change, or remove a cover image and use Duplicate event. On an event wall you can Reply to a post and add emoji reactions.
- Edit channel messages. Press and hold your own message and tap Edit message. Edited messages show (edited).
- Manage channels. Press and hold a channel in a group to leave it. Admins can archive or unarchive it. Archived channels fold under Archived.
- Discover. Opens with Rooms and Wander somewhere new →. Its search field finds posts, people, tags, groups, and words inside comments. Tap a comment result to open the thread at that comment.
- Formatting and links. Posts and comments keep their formatting. Links to UpTrust stay in the app, and email and phone links open Mail and Phone.
- Keep up. Your inbox, topics, events, and people.
Find people from your contacts
In the app, you can invite people you already know. In a group, tap Invite people. On your own event, open the invite sheet. Then tap Find from contacts. The app adds the people it finds who have an UpTrust account to your invite list, and you still choose to send the invite.
- Names stay on your phone. Numbers and email addresses are turned into a one-way code before they are sent.
- UpTrust checks those codes against its own accounts. Codes with no account are not stored.
- A one-way code is still not a secret. Phone numbers are easy to guess, so a code can be matched back to its number. That is why codes with no account are thrown away.
If contacts access is off, tap Open Settings to turn it on. If you shared only some contacts, the app says so and offers Share more. For friends who are not on UpTrust yet, tap Share a link with the rest. See privacy on UpTrust.
Notifications on your phone
The app can alert your phone when someone replies to you or messages you. The first time you open the Inbox tab, your phone asks whether to allow that. If you said no and changed your mind, turn UpTrust notifications back on in your phone settings.
You still pick which kinds reach you. Do that in the app's Settings, under Notifications, or on the website in notification settings. If your phone is blocking UpTrust, the app's Settings tells you so.
Small fixes can reach the app without a store update. They download in the background and take effect the next time you open the app.
