Every vote on UpTrust is already a small bet. When people vote on a post after you, each one who agrees adds to how much they trust you. Each one who disagrees takes away about one and a half times as much. So being right early builds your trust, and being wrong costs you.
Where to find it: Open the More menu (the ... menu) on a post and choose Stake your vote. Comments have no entry on either the web or the app.
How to stake
- Open the ... menu on the post and pick Stake your vote.
- Choose Upvote or Downvote.
- Look at the tiers. Vote is the free, standard vote. Above it are Endorse, Boost, Bet hard, and All in. Some stay locked until you have earned enough trust.
- Press Place bet to confirm. On the free tier the button just says Vote.
What happens next
A higher tier makes your bet bigger. Each person who votes after you and agrees adds more to how much they trust you, and each one who disagrees takes more away. At Endorse both are 3 times what a plain vote moves. At Boost they are 10 times.
A higher tier also holds some of the trust you have earned, for good. That is why some tiers stay locked until you have earned enough. Taking the vote back, or changing it to a lower tier, does not give the hold back. Raising the tier costs only the difference.
You earn more to stake when people agree with your bets. Only people the network already trusts count toward it. A vote from a brand-new account adds nothing and takes nothing away until others trust that account.
A higher tier does not make the post rank higher or reach more people. It only changes how much you have riding on being right.
Trust bet when you reshare
Resharing a post is a bet too, but on your share rather than the original. Your reshare is a new post, and the stake rides on how people vote on it. You get the same tiers, up to Boost. Restack (↻ on a post's page, in the ... menu on a feed card) opens a share dialog where you can add a take and pick your tier. As with a vote, a reshare's stake does not come back, even if you delete the reshare later. See Trust bet a post for the full walkthrough.
