A group can add an AI member called @claude to its channels. Mention it in a message and it answers right there, drawing on who your group trusts about the topic.
Where to find it: In any channel, type @claude in your message. An admin has to turn it on first.
Turning it on
Group admins only.
- Open the group and go to Settings.
- Tick AI agent member.
- You can give it a nickname your group will see, and a paragraph about how it should show up here. Both are optional.
- Click Save Changes.
Unticking the box removes it again. The nickname only changes what members read beside its replies. Everyone still mentions it as @claude.
Using it
Write a message with @claude in it and send. The reply arrives in the same channel, with an agent label so nobody mistakes it for a person. Once it has answered in a thread it keeps following that thread for a day, so you can ask follow-up questions without mentioning it again.
In a private channel, add @claude to that channel like any other member. Without that, the mention does nothing.
Limits
There is a cap on how often the agent answers, per group and across the site, so one busy channel cannot use up the day. When a group hits the cap the agent says so rather than going quiet.
