A group gives the people you bring together one shared place to talk and make plans. It saves you from chasing the same friends across scattered chats and threads.
Where to find it: Open Groups and click New group in the top corner. You choose who the group is for first.
Your people
Pick Your people for friends, family, or anyone you already see. It is a small private group that starts as one room.
- Give it a name. People can reuse names, so pick whatever you call yourselves.
- Use Add people to search for them. People you add are in right away.
- Pick a mark. You can change the emoji, choose no emoji, or pick a tint.
- Click Start the group. You land in its chat.
A small group has a Chat, Plans for finding a time to meet, a People view where you can vouch for each other, and Settings. It stays private, because the people in it were added rather than invited. When you need more, an admin can click Add a channel. Once it has a second channel or more than 12 people, it opens up the rest of a group's tools, like Decisions and Money.
A community
Pick A community for a group around something you share.
- Type a group name. A short description is optional but helps people know what it is.
- Choose whether the group is publicly visible. When it is on, anyone can find and join it. When it is off, only people you invite can come in.
- You can search for people to invite right away, or skip that and invite them later.
- Click Create Group. You land on your new group's Home as its admin.
Your first steps inside
Every new group starts with a home channel for chatting. From there you can add more channels, open the other tools, and invite people. As admin you control the group's settings.
