I read this fast company article that brought me to tears friday. It’s behind a paywall, so you can read it when we’re in person. Long story short Chick-fil-A is super mission oriented, which most people know.... The Issue is not profit maximzation (or capitalism), it's unconscious self-organization
Recently I was telling some people about UpTrust and they were like, "so basically profit maximization sucks right?" and i was like, "profit maximization’s just one output of a much larger thing, which is our unconsciousness.... I think a critical part of our success is our alignment of incentives and systems making it difficult/impossible for us to compromise those values. Looking at many other platforms, they at least ostensibly started from a place of positivity, but over time various motivations... One story @pete and i discussed: Other startups haven’t done what we’re doing for good reasons, like capitalism (@link to my post) or whatever, but we’re going to crunchish until we monetize and then internally self-justify....
