The
algorithm
is extremely simple at the moment:activity = voteCount + (10 * numComments)
then there are thresholds for how many bars to show.
Yep! We killed live updating of comment trees after MMS feedback as a stopgap measure, and we haven’t sorted out what to replace it with.
Hot sorting doesn't feel so hot
With hot sorting, I’d expect newer content to bubble up more easily than old content, but I have a lot of two week old posts on my front page with new exciting content beneath it. I’ve switched to "New" sorting for this dogfooding.... Read the full postAfter submitting a post, I’d expect to be taken to the newly-submitted post (as if I had clicked on it) as proof.
I agree, and it’s one of the things I’ve been ignoring because it falls in the "make it like Reddit / Hacker News" bin (I really moderate my "make a good discussion forum" instinct for reasons that I’ll unpack on request).... Confusion navigating the conversation tree
"Collapse all replies" "Collapse to 2 immediate replies" "Expand 1 top-level comments" "Expand all 2 comments" All make sense if I think about them, but I have to really pause and think about them and the result is I don’t use them and they just jumble up the screen.... yeah, a tool tip explaining it in a sentence, and probably a different icon. I’m dying for a full UI makeover
- Either a different ordering, or some way for me to make sense of the front-page ordering
- onPost with a medium long title just to see what happens. Wow this title is like, eeeextra long. annoyingly long. freshly long. excitingly long? maybe not.by
