Inbox view proposal/request for feedback

I’m supposed to put this on basecamp too, probably, but since I’m here I’ll put it here first.

I’m envisioning we could maybe quickly and easily have another view (in addition to the current home page, and in addition to the imagined twitter-ish view) based on our current Inbox. I think we could get something pretty useful, where I wouldn’t have to leave the Inbox page, by adding just a few features that may be pretty simple:

a way to show/hide wider context for a reply in my inbox. e.g. a little collapse side/down arrow that allows me to see another comment above that one in the tree, perhaps, or maybe somehow it lets me skim the whole thread via a popup-type-thing when I hover over the reply (maybe harder and could come later?)
a way to uptrust/etc the reply
a way to reply to the reply, directly in my inbox. maybe it starts as just a single-line textbox below each reply in the inbox, but that textbox expands when I start typing in it or something? (this is probably my #1 request)
