I’d love a good explanation of this, because I feel I only understand pieces but not enough to explain it to others.

I know

  • there are issues where only significant results get published, so if someone redoes a published experiment and it fails, the failure to replicate doesn’t get published. (File drawer problem?)

  • people aren’t incentivized to replicate at all, since there’s not much career reward for not doing something new

  • The winner’s curse something something

  • P-hacking
